
Derek Scheich - Varsity Head Coach

Coach Scheich will be in his 5th season with the Lincoln Southwest Boys Soccer Program after becoming the Head Coach in the Spring of 2017. This will be his 10th year overall coaching at Lincoln Southwest.
Prior to this, Coach Scheich worked with the Lincoln Southwest Girls Soccer Program as the Reserve Head Coach and Varsity Assistant for 5 seasons from 2012-2016. During his time as an Assistant with the LSW Girls Program, the team won 4 Heartland Athletic Conference Titles, 5 District Titles, and made 5 State Tournament Appearances, reaching the Semi-Finals back-to-back in the final two years.
The LSW Boys Soccer Program has continued its strong tradition of success by capturing several City, Conference, and District Championships since Coach Scheich took over in 2017. In addition to this, they qualified for the State Tournament in back-to-back seasons in 2018 and 2019, going out in the Semi-Finals on Penalties in the former.
Unfortunately, the 2020 season was cancelled throughout the state by the NSAA due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Coach Scheich looks to get things rolling again in 2021 and continue to try and guide the program to more success both on and off the field.

Coach Scheich currently holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National D Coaching License.
As a player, Coach Scheich played Left Back at Lincoln Lutheran High School where he was part of a Boys Soccer Program that won 3 District Championships, made 3 Class B State Tournament Appearances, reaching the State Semi-Finals 3 out of 4 years from 2003-2006. After High School, Coach Scheich attended the University of Nebraska - Lincoln where he turned his passion for the game towards coaching.
At Lincoln Southwest, Coach Scheich teaches in the Social Studies Department. His subjects include AP Macroeconomics, World History, and Geography.
During his free time, Coach Scheich enjoys Strength and Conditioning Training, spending time with his wife, daughter, and family, friends, dog (Leo), traveling, and supporting Liverpool FC.

Sam Kiddoo - Junior Varsity Head Coach/Varsity Assistant

Coach Kiddoo will be in his 2nd Season with the LSW Boys Soccer Program and takes over as The Junior Varsity Head Coach. While new to LSW, this will be his 10th Season coaching within LPS overall. He brings a great deal of experience and ambition to a team that has won Back-to-Back LPS City Championships and finished the 2019 season undefeated.
Coach Kiddoo has spent two seasons as the Reserve Head Coach at Lincoln High School from 2018-2019, finishing as the LPS City Runner-Up in 2018. Prior to that, Coach Kiddoo was a Volunteer Assistant with Lincoln East High School before spending 5 Seasons as the Reserve Head Coach from 2013-2017, winning 2 LPS City Championships during that span.
A strong sporting background has encouraged and allowed Coach Kiddoo to pursue coaching in a variety of disciplines. He has previously coached swimming at various levels and will begin coaching the LSW Boys Tennis Reserve Team this fall in 2019. Coach Kiddoo is a graduate of Lincoln East High School in 2008, where he lettered in Soccer and was a State Champion Swimmer in multiple events.
In addition to coaching, Coach Kiddoo works full-time with K&Z Distributing Co. in Lincoln. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Stacie and their 2-year old son, Rory. They enjoy travelling, camping, taking their dog (Porter) for walks, and spending time with family and friends. Coach Kiddoo is an avid Sporting KC and Liverpool FC supporter. He also enjoys playing in a variety of adult soccer leagues in town.

Taylor Taege - Reserve Head Coach/Varsity Assistant

Coach Taege will be heading into his 7th Season as the Lincoln Southwest Boys Soccer Reserve Head Coach and 9th Season overall coaching at LSW. Coach Taege initially served as a Volunteer Assistant and was on the 2014 Staff that won the NSAA Class A State Championship.
As a graduate of LSW and former player for the LSW Boys Soccer Program, Coach Taege has a strong passion for developing players as they continue to improve their tactical/technical abilities at the Reserve Level. He is one of the most successful Reserve Head Coaches within Lincoln Public Schools and has never had a losing season.
Some of Coach Taege's coaching highlights include guiding the Reserve squad to an Undefeated 13-0 Record and the LPS Reserve City Title in 2018. In 2019, Coach Taege secured a second-consecutive LPS Reserve City Title.
Since taking over as The LSW Boys Soccer Reserve Head Coach, Taege has compiled a record of 48 Wins, 8 Losses, and 1 Draw.

Matt Russell - Volunteer Varsity Assistant
Coach Russell will be in his 2nd season with The LSW Boys Soccer Program this year in a Volunteer Varsity Assistant role. However, this will be his 6th Year overall coaching at LSW. From 2016-2019, Coach Russell spent the past 4 Seasons coaching with the LSW Girls Soccer Program. During that span, the program won 2 LPS City Titles, 3 Heartland Athletic Conference Titles, 3 District Titles, and made the State Tournament 3 out of 4 Seasons, reaching the Semi-Finals in each appearance.
Coach Russell hails from Sioux Falls, South Dakota where as a player he was a 4-Year Varsity Letter Winner at Washington High School and was recognized as an All-State Selection his Senior Year in 2013. Other coaching experiences include stints with The Omaha Metro Wolves and at Goodrich Middle School in Lincoln. Coach Russell is looking forward to sharing his passion, experience, and knowledge for the game with a new set of Student-Athletes here at Lincoln Southwest as he swaps over to the Boys Program for the 2020 Season.
Coach Russell graduated from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln with a Degree in Water Science & Environmental Restoration. He also recently earned his Master's Degree in Natural Resources, and will now pursue a PhD in Biological Systems Engineering in the Fall of 2020.
In his free time, Coach Russell enjoys spending time with his fiancee, Megan, friends, hunting, fishing, and cooking. He also enjoys playing pickup basketball and soccer and spending time with his Labrador Retriever, Maverick.

Coach Miller will be in his 1st season with the LSW Boys Soccer Program this year in a Volunteer Varsity Assistant Role. However, he is no stranger to the program having attended Lincoln Southwest and being a part of the program for 3 years, lettering in his Junior and Senior Seasons.
During his time as a member of the LSW Boys Soccer Program, Coach Miller started at Right Back and Center Back, anchoring a back line that helped the program win 1 LPS City Championship, 1 HAC Regular Season Championship, 1 HAC Tournament Championship, 2 District Championships, and made 2 NSAA State Tournament Appearances, reaching the Semi-Finals in his Junior Year. Coach Miller graduated from LSW in 2019.
